"Solve each system algebraically. Identify each system as cosistent and dependent, cosistent and independant, or inconsistant."
my teacher didn't go over this in class and i have no idea what it means! here are the problems:
#1) 2f+3g=11
f-g=(-7)
#2) 4x=y+5
6x+4y=(-9)
#3) 4r+t=8
t=4-2r
#4) y=3/2x-4
2y-8=3x
please help!! thanks, Mel :)

Ahh, the old "my teacher did not explain this" story.
So you have a textbook?
These terms will all be defined in your text.
For a bried explanation:
Each of these pair of equations are represented by two straight lines
Now suppose you draw any two straight lines.
there are three possibilities:
1. they will intersect
2. they will be two parallel lines
3. one line will coincide with the other one.
In terms of intersections:
1. there will be one intersection point
2. they will never intersect
3. they will "intersect" in an infinite number of points.
the terms above should match these conditions. I am sure you can find it.

If you do, #1 is g=25 and f=18. That would mean it is consistent and independent, right?
