7 / ( x - 4 ) = 2 Multiply both sides by ( x - 4 )

7 = 2 * ( x - 4 )

7 = 2 x - 8 Add 8 to both sides

7 + 8 = 2 x - 8 + 8

15 = 2 x Divide both sides by 2

15 / 2 = x

x = 15 / 2 = 7.5
