Pythagorean's theorem can be used from what I see. If you plot the points, you have P1 at (-4,3) and P2 (6,0). Draw a line giving a right angle at the (-4,0). Use the formula for the Pythagorean theorem: a^2+b^2=c^2; where side a is at -4, and side b is o...

I may have confused you with saying that side "a" is at a point. It is actually on the -4, from the x axis up to P1 and is 3 units long. Where side "b" is on the x axis and is 6 units in the right direction toward P2, plus 4 units toward the left, under P...

Yes, I get the same answer! You were not asked to solve for x. f(x) = 5(x-6)(x+4)

Matt, I would choose one on the x axis (probably the sweatshirts) and the other (money collected) on the y axis. It will be linear because they go up in a linear fashion. This site won't allow pictures to be posted...I don't think

Aubrey, there is a single number x that adds to itself x + x = 1 and multiplies, x*x=1, to equal one? Because this is how I see this being written to start.

Or, x + x = x^2

Using Ratios The trick with ratios is to always multiply or divide the numbers by the same value. 4 : 5 is the same as 4×3 : 5×3 = 12 : 15 Brothers are still three years apart in age.

12yrs + 3 mo = 147 mo., and the ratio is 3:4, so we will take the 147*4/3=196, to yield 196 months. Then we divide out 16 years, which leaves 4 months. The final answer is 16 years, 4 months.

Getting late...let's see if we set this up correctly: 3R=F F = 2R + 15 (I'm not quite sure about this sentence, but substitute and solve for one of the unknowns.) I chose F: 3R = 2R + 15 R = 15 Substitute the value of R into one of the sentences and find...

Reiny - I have a question about the substitution of the ordered pairs in the above questions, shouldn't the characters follow this (x,y) format? ~~Signed Concerned

YES 1. = $227.00 YES 2. = $499.98/6 = $83.33 Try again 3. = $3,129.89 *4. = $50 *(The amount of $49.22 should be rounded to $50 in an estimate. If you carry the decimals at the end it makes it seem as though your figure was exact when it was not.)

Oh, hi Ms Sue. This is Claire's g'ma again. I am not using her name. I decided that I should use her name when I write her questions only. Anyway. I will check my math above. ??

n = 1150 x = 114 p = x/n p = 114/1150 = 0.099 z critical value = ____ (Then, I got this formula from the question in the 'Related Questions' below. I hope this helps.) E = za/2 *sqrt((p (1-p)/)/n))

I'm a little rusty, but here goes... In your triangle , call your base b & your height h, the hypotenuse would be 18 & the base angle is 60° so sin60° = h/18 ---> h = 18sin60 cos60° = b/18 ---> b = 18cos60 So, later when you need area a = b*h

Are you currently using Pythagorean theorem in class?
9 years ago
OK...lets name the diagonal-d, the base - b and the height-h, and use the Pythagorean theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2 c=hypotenuse (We will substitute the base our letters in.) b^2 + h^2 = d^2 h = √(d^2 - b^2) ..and... b = √(d^2 - h^2)

Let me know if this is the format. I used the Pythagorean's Theorem, but you need another side length in order to solve the third side.

Runners: Lucy--> L = Doreen -->D = L+4 Total miles ran is 20--> 20 = L + D 20 = L + L + 4 20-4 = 2L 16 = 2L 8 = L -> L = 8 mi. D = L + 4 = 12 mi. Double Check: 20 = L + D 20 = 8 + 12

OK. Without the math or chemical calc's the answer should show that it takes more energy to change the alcohol to change phases. I would 'assume' that it would therefore have a lower temperature than the water in the end also. (Double check the answer.)

Yes, DrBob222 I believe you may be correct

Ms. Sue is this a new group for the 10's and 100's. Would that be 8 or 80 for the tens and 1 or 100 for the hundreds?

Would this be right? 1-3/8 + 1-3/7 rounded nearest 1/2 number rounded nearest whole 1-1/2 1-3/8 1 1-1/2 1-3/7 1 Add 3 2

Thank you Ms. Sue. Could you double check mine. I will write the answer like you did for 1 3/8 + 1 3/7 Nearest whole number = 1 + 1 = 2 Nearest half = 1 1/2 + 1 1/2 = 3 Correct?
