= 1/2 + 3/3 + 7/4 + 10/5 + ... 36/9
= 1/2 + 1 + 3/2 + 2 + ... + 4
looks like an arithmetic series with
a = 1/2, d = 1/2, and n = 8
sum = (8/2)(2(1/2) + 7(1/2))
= 4( 1 + 7/2)
= 4 + 14
= 18
