n^2-2n-4=0
a=1 b=-2 c=-4

then use quadratic formula
x=(-b+sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a)
x=(-b-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a)

x=1+sqrt(5)
x=1-sqrt(5)
