(a) Time = (barrel length)/(average speed)
= 2*(barrel length)/(exit speed) = 2L/V

(b) Length = (a/2) T^2
Use T from part A and solve for a

a = 2 L/T^2 = 2L*V^2/(4L^2)
= V^2/(2L)
