I have always heard that what you don't know about history your are doomed to repeat. Therefore, writing about history in any form provides a 'learning' platform for the ages that come after.
Think of what we have learned of Englad from Dickens, what we have learned of early American society from Cooper and Hawthorne. We learned of early society from the Iliad.
Sometimes I think that politicians should be required to pass a test on history before they are allowed to run for office....<G>
