No although I have found sites on the web that call it an alkali metal. I think most chemists agree it is not an alkali metal. Technically it is a transition metal since it is in the d-block of electrons. Alkali metals are so-called because they react with water to form alkali. For example, 2Na + 2H2O ==> 2NaOH + H2 in which Na reacts with H2O to form a base (NaOH). Bases are alkaline.
