x+y = xy+1
x-y = xy-5
so, eliminating xy,
x+y-1 = x-y+5
2y = 6
y = 3
so, that means that
x+3 = 3x+1
x = 1
check:
3+1 = 3*1+1 yes
1-3 = 3*1 - 5 yes
