this is the Pythagorean Theorem
if "c" is the hypotenuse of a right triangle, with "a" and "b" as the other 2 sides
... a^2 + b^2 = c^2
if "c" is the hypotenuse of a right triangle, with "a" and "b" as the other 2 sides
