The sum of the squares of the measures of the sides of a square is 256. Find the measure of a diagonal of the square.

sqrt(256) = 16

the answer in the book says 8 sqrt of 2. i don't know how to solve it though

OH !
they mean all four sides!

256/2 = 128
128 = 64*2 = 8*8*2
sqrt(128) = 8 sqrt 2
