Be patient. Apparently there are no math or algebra tutors on line right now. We are volunteers and are not here all the time.

y = -1 x + b
-8 = -1(2) + b
-8 = -2 + b
b = -6
so
y = -1x - 6
or
y+6 = - x
-8 = -1(2) + b
-8 = -2 + b
b = -6
so
y = -1x - 6
or
y+6 = - x

Anyway, I want a raise.

another way:
-1 = (y - -8) / (x - 2)
Maybe the form you want
y + 8 = -x + 2
that is of course the same as
y = -x - 6
-1 = (y - -8) / (x - 2)
Maybe the form you want
y + 8 = -x + 2
that is of course the same as
y = -x - 6
