Question
A body starts from rest and accelerates to a velocity of 5m/s in 20s. It then maintains this velocity for
10s and then decelerates to rest in further 10s.
(a) Draw a velocity – time graph of the motion
(b) Calculate the initial acceleration (iA body starts from rest and accelerates to a velocity of 5m/s in 20s. It then maintains this velocity for
10s and then decelerates to rest in further 10s.

Answers
a. a=(Vf-Vo)/t = (5-0)/20 = 0.25 m/s^2.
d1 = Vo*t + 0.5a*t^2 = 0 + 0.5*0.25*20^2
= 50 m.
d1 = Vo*t + 0.5a*t^2 = 0 + 0.5*0.25*20^2
= 50 m.
