okay, I'm not sure how you were taught to do this, but this is how I would.
1st: subtract 2.25 from 5 to get 2.75.
(5-2.25=2.75)
2nd: write the inequality. So, because you have $2.75 left you can get anything that is less than or equal to $2.75.

Hope this helps!

Bro everyone knows $2.75 is the answer, a literal first grader can solve that. The whole point of the question is to write the *inequality* which is exactly what I need help with. Figuring out $5 - $2.25 = $2.75 is simple.

Anyway, when/if I do figure out the answer, I'll post it so some other people can figure out the actual answer to the question.
Answered by Bot
Yes, you are correct. The answer to the question "How much can you spend if you have $5 for lunch and have already bought a turkey sandwich for $2.25?" is $2.75.

To write the inequality, you can use x to represent the amount of money you can spend and write:

x ≤ 2.75

This inequality means that any amount of money you spend on lunch (represented by x) should be less than or equal to $2.75, which is the amount of money you have left after buying the turkey sandwich.

You have $5 for lunch. You bought a turkey sandwich for $2.25.
A. Write an inequality that represents how much more money you can spend.
B. Solve your inequality.
Answered by Bot
A. Let x represent the amount of money you can spend.

The amount of money you have left after buying the turkey sandwich can be represented as:

5 - 2.25 = 2.75

This means that you have $2.75 left to spend. We want to find how much more money you can spend, so the inequality is:

x ≤ 2.75

B. This inequality means that any amount of money you spend on lunch (represented by x) should be less than or equal to $2.75, which is the amount of money you have left after buying the turkey sandwich.

Therefore, the maximum amount of money you can spend on lunch is $2.75.

explain in more detail please
Answered by Bot
Sure!

A. To write the inequality, we use x to represent the amount of money you can spend. We know that you have $5 for lunch and that you have already spent $2.25 on a turkey sandwich.

So, the amount of money you have left, or the amount of money you can spend (represented by x) can be found by subtracting the cost of the turkey sandwich from the total amount you have:

5 - 2.25 = 2.75

This gives us $2.75 to spend. The inequality we want is the one that represents the amount of money you can spend:

x ≤ 2.75

This means that any amount of money you spend on lunch (represented by x) should be less than or equal to the amount you have left after buying the turkey sandwich, which is $2.75.

B. We have found the inequality, which is x ≤ 2.75. To solve it, we just need to determine the maximum amount of money you can spend.

Since the inequality states that x is less than or equal to 2.75, the maximum amount of money you can spend is $2.75.

So, the answer is that you can spend up to $2.75 on lunch.

What are the coordinates of the fourth vertex of the rectangle?
Answered by Bot
To find the coordinates of the fourth vertex of the rectangle, we need to use the fact that opposite sides of a rectangle are parallel and of equal length.

One side of the rectangle is given by the segment joining (-2.5, 2) and (1, 2), which lies on the line y = 2. The length of this side is 1 - (-2.5) = 3.5 units.

The other side of the rectangle is given by the segment joining (1, 2) and (1, -1), which lies on the line x = 1. The length of this side is 2 - (-1) = 3 units.

Since opposite sides of the rectangle are parallel, the slope of the line passing through (-2.5, 2) and (1, 2) must be the same as the slope of the line passing through (1, 2) and the fourth vertex. This slope is zero, since the line is parallel to the x-axis.

Similarly, the slope of the line passing through (1, 2) and (1, -1) must be the same as the slope of the line passing through (1, -1) and the fourth vertex. This slope is undefined, since the line is parallel to the y-axis.

Therefore, the fourth vertex of the rectangle must have x-coordinate equal to 1, and y-coordinate equal to some value y such that the distance between (1, 2) and (1, y) is equal to the length of the other side of the rectangle, which is 3 units.

Since (1, 2) is already a vertex of the rectangle, we move 3 units downwards (since the length of the side is 3) to get the y-coordinate of the fourth vertex. This gives us:

(1, 2-3) = (1, -1)

Therefore, the coordinates of the fourth vertex of the rectangle are (1, -1).

What are the coordinates of the fourth vertex of the rectangle?
Answered by Bot
To find the fourth vertex of the rectangle, we will need to use the fact that opposite sides of a rectangle are parallel and have equal length.

One side of the rectangle is given by the segment joining (-2.5, 2) and (1, 2), and it goes straight across the x-axis. The length of this side is 1 - (-2.5) = 3.5 units.

The other side of the rectangle is given by the segment joining (1, 2) and (1, -1), and it goes straight down along the y-axis. The length of this side is 2 - (-1) = 3 units.

Since the opposite sides of a rectangle are parallel, we know that the fourth vertex must have the same y-coordinate as the second and third vertices of the rectangle. Therefore, the y-coordinate of the fourth vertex is 2.

Since the fourth vertex is 3.5 units away from (1,2), it must be 3.5 units to the right of (1,2). Therefore, the x-coordinate of the fourth vertex is 1 + 3.5 = 4.5 units.

Thus the coordinates of the fourth vertex of the rectangle are (4.5, 2).
