gravel is being dumped from a conveyor belt at a rate of 15 ft^3/hr and its coarseness is such that it forms a pile in the shape of an inverted right cone whose height is three times its base radius. How fast is the height of the pile increasing when the...

Thanks for your help, but sorry, I'm still kinda confused. I'm not sure how to find x. Do I need it to solve for z. z^2 = 50 ^2 + x^2 Sorry if this is a silly question

How did you get "dh/dt = 135/(100π) ft/hr?" That's the only part I'm confused about. Thanks for your help btw.

oh okay, I ended up getting .43ft/hr. I'm 99% sure that's the correct answer. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I'm really sucking at related rates, so I'm doing all the problems I can.

wow, I actually did it right, I got .045 for k, and p(t) = 89.67. I can't believe I actually did this problem correctly, I hope.(crosses fingers)

I meant .046 not .045

I got 89.67 by using 45e^(ln(65/45)/8*15)

for part a I got k = -.023105, if this isn't correct, can someone explain what I did wrong? how do I now find p(t)?

Can you please explain what you mean by when f'(x) > 0. I know you should be able to just graph it and see when it's increasing and decreasing, but for some reason I cannot get the correct answer. Can you please explain increasing and decreasing, concave...

Thank you for my help. Can you explain what to plug in to get the answer? My calculus teacher told me this is one of the harder problems, and it wouldn't be on the final. Despite this, I'm still really lost on exactly what this question is asking. This is...

I plugged in 8.64 * 4.4+.5(pi8.64^(2/4)), I'm sure that's how you find the solution

Oh okay, I guess that's what I was doing wrong.

Hey, I went back and got the exact value, because the answer isn't coming out correct on the practice program. I did 15.5(8.637013338)-.8973009183(8.637013338) and I got 126.1237067 and that is still incorrect. I'm not sure what error I am making. I hope...

Let x be the width and y be the height of the window. So the radius of the semicircle at the top is r=x/2. The perimeter 31=x+2y+πr . So x+2y+πx/2=31. Solve this equation for y. The area A=xy+12πr^2=xy+1/2π(x/2)^2. Eliminate y from A by substituting y by...
