-8x=-2 2/3 and then divide each side by -8. You could also multiply both sides by -1/8, the reciprocal, if that is easier for you. -8/3 multiplied by -1/8 = positive not negative 1/3. Your final answer was correct, but the sign was incorrect.

Perpendicular lines have slopes that are negative reciprocals of one another (multiply the two slopes together and their product has to be a negative 1). In y=mx+b, m is the slope.

Does this equation have to be in a special form? Otherwise, you have a point (x,y). You could use zeroes to find intercepts. You could do y=mx+b to find slope and y intercept. With both a point and a slope, use y-y1= m (x+x1)or something like that.
