your drawer contains 6 red socks and 10 blue socks. its to dark to see which are which, but you grab two anyway. what is the probability that both socks are red?

i know what the answer is (3/40) but I don't know how to get it. and I need to show my work and take a picture. :/

16 socks, 6 red so 6/16
then
15 socks 5 red so 5/15
so
6/16 * 5/15 = 3/8 * 1/3 = 1/8
I agree with Damon,
Your answer of 3/40 is incorrect
I have no idea where your 3/40 came from.
okay so on quizzes it says the right answer is 3/40 and also I understand what you mean for the most part except for why you multiplied 3/8 by 1/3
a coin is tossed and then the spinner is spun. determine the probability that you toss heads and spin a red. i got 5/6 but that is not an option neither is it reduced or as a prcentage.
and it can only be 1/6 or 1/10
6red/10blue × 2X/16total socks
X=3/5×1/8 =3/40
I think u would do it like this, 6*16 x 5*16 = 1/8. The reason why you then draw out 5 red socks is because u already took out one, so then that remains u with 5, the reason you multiply it is that then u get the LCM of those numbers
