Solve the simultonous equation using substitutes
x+y=3
x=3-y

Answered by mathhelper
Just sub the 2nd into the first ....
(3-y) + y = 3
3 = 3

ahhh, since the variable dropped out, and we end up with a TRUE
statement, there will be an infinite number of solutions.

(Since the second equation is simply a rearrangement of the first,
you were actually just given one equation. )

Adding y to both sides of the second equation, you can see that both equations are identical. If using whole numbers, one value = 1, while the other = 2.
