proceed as if it were an ordinary equation until you get the variable all
by itself, just keep the sign of inequality

q + 12 - 2q + 44 > 0
-q + 56 > 0
-q > -56

at this point, and only here, do we worry about the inequality sign
IF WE MULTIPLY OR DIVIDE BY A NEGATIVE NUMBER, we have to reverse the inequality sign.
So to solve for q, we have to divide by -1, so
q < 56
