If I was going to compare Achilles from The Iliad and Pierre from War and Peace to two real people, who do you think would represent them the best?
Thanks,
Michelle

I'd begin with "If I were..."

Whom would you choose?

I don't know, I had to write one paper that's about War and Peace, The Iliad, Richard III and Henry V. I'm going to compare Richard III to Hitler and Henry V to President George W. Bush but I can't think of who would represent the other two characters and was hoping someone could help me out.

Achilles might be represented by Pres. Clinton.

For that matter, Clinton could better represent Pierre.

perhaps, General MacArthur would be a good representation of Achilles.

In looking at Themes that represent these stories, anger seems to be the word that respresents Achilles, can you tell me how either Pres. Clinton or Gen. MacArthur could represent that word.
If I use Pres. Clinton to represent Pierre what word would use. I was going to use Pierre and how war changed him and he was finally able to find true love with Natasha (in essence how war can make you realize what you really want out of life) I don't know how I would relate that to Clinton. I found the word anger a lot in differnet readings related to Achilles. How could I relate anger to Gen. MacArthur as far as why he fought the war?

Check the Sparknotes description of Pierre. I think you will find similarities. http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/warandpeace/canalysis.html

What was Achilles' "heel"? I think that he and MacArthur had the same "human fault".
