An item is shot off the ground at a force of 31N and an angle of 36 degrees. In order to find the vertical force, would I use SIN, COSINE, or TANGENT?

would it go
31 * COS/SIN/TAN (36) or
36 * COS/SIN/TAN (31)??

1 answer

If the angle is measured to the horizontal, the sine function is appropriate. One takes the magnitude, times the sine of the angle.
