Adam has built a garden shed in the shape described.

a square based pyramid with the height of 3.5m on top of a cube with base 4m by 4m and height 2m.
calculate the volume of the shed, to the nearest cubic metre.
thanks.

volume of cube base = 4x4x2 = ..
volume of pyramid = (4/3)(4x4)(3.5) = ...

total = .....
thanks, but i don't think that is the answer because in the options ,the answer to that calculation is not there.
So sorry, that was a typo, the volume of pyramid
= (1/3)base area x height

so volume of pyramid = (1/3)(4x4)(3.5)
47cm

I hate math and this question is stupid cause I can’t do it
If anyone needs help with this, the height is not 3.5m, that is the slant height. So you would need to use Pythagorean theorem to solve for the height.
h^2=s^2-r^2
h^2=3.5^2-2^2
h^2=12.25-4
h^2=8.25
h=√8.25
h=2.87228 m squared.

Then use this height to solve for the pyramid. The volume of the pyramid is 15.31883. Add this to the rectangular prism which has a volume of 32.

V=32+15.31883
V=47 m cubed

Hope it helps

I'm sorry if you find math difficult or frustrating. Is there anything I can help you with or any specific concept you would like me to explain?
