A 500kV power line has a maximum permissible Voltage drop of 3% and is design to carry 1000 Amps. If the conductor has a 0.026 ohms/km resistance, what is the maximum distance the conductor can be run (to the nearest complete km)? Hint: P=IE, E=IR

3% voltage drop is 15kV
So, no more than 15kV can be lost along the line
Since E=IR, the voltage drop is 26V/km
15000/26 = 577km
So, no more than 15kV can be lost along the line
Since E=IR, the voltage drop is 26V/km
15000/26 = 577km
