                Which equation is the correct equation to solve for x?
Given ST = 5x + 1 , TU = 4x -1, and SU = 54
Its multiple choice and the answers given are-
A)(5x + 1) + 54 = 4x - 1

B)(4x - 1) + 54 = 5x + 1

C) 5x + 1 = 55 - 4x

D) 5x + 1 = 27

    We can't answer the question unless we know the position of S, T, and U relative to each other.
e.g. are S and U the endpoints with T between them ?

    My guess is that T id a point between S and U. So,
ST+TU=SU
5x+1 + 4x-1 = 54
That's not there, so try
ST = SU - TU
5x+1 = 54-(4x-1)
5x+1 = 55-4x
(C)

ST+TU=SU
5x+1 + 4x-1 = 54
That's not there, so try
ST = SU - TU
5x+1 = 54-(4x-1)
5x+1 = 55-4x
