Is this equation correct: (x y)^3 = x y^3 ? Explain why. If it is correct, how can you prove this? If it is incorrect, what should be done to make it right?

(xy)^3 = x * x * x * y * y * y

xy^3 = x * y * y * y

In the first, both terms are cubed. In the second, only the last term is cubed.
