ok,this is wat u do
u make both denominators equal by finding the LCM(least common multiple)
that is 8 what do u have to do if u want to make both fractions have the same denominator? u do this
2 1/4=2 2/8 u reduce 2 2/8 to get 2 1/4, rite?
then 7/8 cannot go into 2 2/8, rite so u make the 2 2/8 an improper fraction
u add the numerator to the denominator and subtract 1 from the whole number
so 2 2/8 becomes 1 10/8 then u subtract basically u do these steps
2 1/4-7/8=
2 2/8-7/8=
1 10/8-7/8=
now u just figure out the answer
any help, kinda confusing, then reply and ill tell u another way
