True or false? The calorie is defined as the amount of energy (heat) required to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius.

I thought I knew the standard definition of calorie until I looked it up to make sure before answering your question. Now I don't know what it is. There must be 10 definitions with SLIGHT differences between. I don't know how advanced this class is but I suspect most would count this as a true statement. The definition I grew up with is "the heat required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water from 15.5 to 16.5 C."

Isn't that true. That is what I thought it was just looking at the units for a specific heat constant.
