First we need to find the common denominator and add the fractions.

Since, 12, 6, and 3 all go evenly into 12, that's the common denominator.

1/6 = 2/12
1/3 = 4/12

2/12 + 4/12 + 3/12 = 9/12

That can be simplified.

9/12 = 3/4

4/4 - 3/4 = 1/4 not colored

Adam can make the common denominator 12 because 6 and 3 go into it evenly. Then do 1/6x2=2/12 then you do 1/3x4=4/12!!!

Shouldn't it be stated as 3,4 and 6 go into 12 evenly.
1/3= 4/12
1/4= 3/12
1/6= 2/12
2/12+3/12+4/12= 9/12.
Reduce 9/12 to 3/4.
4/4-3/4= 1/4 not colored
