Jenna lives 4 3/10 miles from school, she estimates that she travels 4 x2x5 or 40 miles each week. Is her estimate an over estimate or underestimate?
I think it is under estimate but not sure?

You're right. It's an under estimate.
She lives a little more than 4 miles from school. Therefore her actual travel distance is more than 40 miles in a week.

Jenna made an underestimate because 4 and 3/10 are neither estimated to 4 or 4 and 1/2. if you're multiplying 4 and 1/2 3 times the product will be about 91 and if you multiply 4 3 times it the product will be 64. 91 and 64 are both greater than 40.
