omigosh thanks so much! I thought it was possibly but wasn't sure how to prove it. Now I know :)
Thanks, so would it not be advisable to raise the cost of the dinner in Chicago, even though they have less competitors? According to the problem, Chicago has 5 less competitors but less income per household and less households. How would that figure in?
Thanks, I came up with the same answers except for c. I came up with 4% for the taxable and 5% for the municipal, can you show me the equation so I can see what I am doing wrong.
well, i'm not sure. There wasn't any true reason Paris needed die. is it to show Romeo's desperation and love he has for Juliet? or is Paris' death linked somehow to the prince - the prince was not involved in the feud yet he was affected too (Paris was related to him), showing the evils of hatred?
I a need help creating a table, how does it suppose to look?
I have this word problem that I can't figure out. The problem is: A 15 lb weight is positioned 10 in. form a fulcrum. At what distance from the fulcrum must a 12 lb weigt be positioned to keep the scale balanced? The substitute that I had today said that the 12 lb. weight would have to be further away from the fulcrum than the 15 lb., but my mom says the opposite.

can you explain what you mean by three standard deviations? thanks
I cant find the acceleration needed to solve the problem. All i know is 200tons is equal to 200000kg. and I don't understand 2.5 degree grade. would it be 200000cos2.5 ... but then how do i get acceleration from there.
the thing is. i don't know what to do witht the 50km cuz its different units from the 3km/hr and the 4km/hr

I don't know what is a strong conclusion. Can anybody tell me?
I have done this already and found nothing after twenty pages. I have looked through about 30 different sites and can't really grab a hold of the main objective.
use variables p for plane and w for wind and the equations: (p+w)x 2hours = 360 miles (p-w)x 2hours = 300 miles divide by 2 p+w=180 p-w=150 combine the two equations so w cancels 2p = 330 divide by 2 to get the speed of the plane. p=165 put the plane back into the equation to get the rate of the wind 165+w = 180 w = 15m/h
How do you get the mass of the entire sample?
It's 37.9 grams of SO2
Okay thanks. I worked it out and got the correct answer of 86.8 grams for the mass product.
Thank you
All you have to do is multiply parts of the 2500 by .08 and .12 then find which amount is the same. EXP 1250 * .08 = 100 1250 * .12 = 150 since those don't match go to 1300*.08 and 1200*.12 and so on untill you find the same answer
would you really have to multiply .08 and .12 by 100 or could you leave it the way it is?
I think it would be x+y=56
I think it would be x+3x=56
because now you have 3x=y
I don't think so The second part is giving you a way to solve the problem. so if you find out whay y is then you can find out what x is.
x+y=56 x+3x=56 56/4= 14 x=14 56-14=42 y=42 check 14+42=56 or 14+(14*3)=56
I guess you could write it x+y=56 4x=56 56/4=x x=14 14+y=56 56-14=y y=52 I'm not sure how your teacher would want you to show your work. This way might be the simplest form
well the 4 came because it says y = 3 times as many as x so for y to be 3 times as many as x there has to be 4 parts of 56 1 part is x and the remaining 3 are y. Does that help?
I see well think you for showing me an easier and faster way to figure that problem out. I was taught the long way on most math problems.
I think this is right but I'm not sure on this part of your problem. from part a, x + y = 56, then at x = 0, y = 56. Therefore y-intercept = 56 at y = 0, x = 56. Therefore x-intercept = 56 from part b, y = 3x, then This is a straight line, passing through the origin Therefore x-intercept = 0 Therefore y-intercept = 0
Sorry this is the answer to the 2nd question. Using the straight lines x + y = 56 and y = 3x, then they would intersect at x = 14 and y = 42
YES PART A IS RIGHT WHAT DID YOU GET FOR PART B OF QUESTION 2
yes that's right and part c and then question 3
Part C is just as it says using elimination to get the right answer. I found it faster if you just use the first numbers exp 175*2=350 so, 7200-350=6850 well you know that 200 will not go into 6850 evening so you keep going 175*3=525 7200-525=6675 200 will still not go into 6675 evening. Keep going untill you find a number 200 will go into and then see how many times untill you get numbers that =38

The numbers M and N are different numbers selected from the first 25 counting numbers: If M is larger than N, what is the smallest value that the expression below can have? m * n over m-n?
I thought in this problem M and N had to be the same numbers so how could we do 1*2 over 25-1. Also, M has to be larger than N........still confused.
Sue, are you able to help? My son has to go to bed soon and we are anxious to figure out how to do this....appreciate your help!!!
ok, thanks. I was just thinking I had to use the same number for M & M on the top and bottom of the fraction. I understand now. Thanks so much!
