If you have swam one lap in a swimming pool, that means you have swam from one end to the other and back. In 4 h, a swimmer makes exactly 93 laps in a swimming pool that is 50 m long. Determine the distance the swimmer traveled, the total displacement of the swimmer, the swimmer's average velocity, and the swimmer's average speed.

The total length traveled back and forth in one lap is 50 m + 50 m = 100 m. The swimmer swims 93 of these laps, so he travels a distance of 93*100 = 9,300 m. The total displacement of the swimmer is zero (he ends up in the same place where he started). The swimmer's average velocity is also zero, because he spends half the route going in a positive direction, and half in a negative direction. The swimmer's average speed is 9,300 m/ 4h
