Formulas depend upon what other variables you already know. V = d/t is one example, if you know the distance d traveled in time t. If you know the kinetic energy E and the mass m, it is sqrt (2E/m). If you know the magnetic force F, charge q and magnetic field B, it is F/(qB). Dozens of other formulas could be written.
