abc is an iscsceles triange. ab is the longest side with egnth 4x+4. bc=8x+3. find ab

Depends. If A is the vertex, so that AB=AC, then there's no way to tell.

If B is the vertex, so that AB = BC, then
4x+4 = 8x+3
x = 1/4
so, AB = 5
