what reaction does LDH actually catalize and why is that reaction important?

LDH catalyzes the reaction between pyruvate and lactate.

Pyruvate is important because it involves in glycolysis (glucose metabolism).

Lactate is important because you can use lactate to quickly generate the energy you need during intensive exercising.
