Each equal side of an isosceles triangle is 3 1/2 inches longer than the base. The perimeter of the triangle is 2 feet. Find the length of its base.

each of equal sides ---- x + 3.5
solve for x
x + 2(x+3.5) = 24
each of equal sides ---- x + 3.5
solve for x
