A car is accelerated at a rate of 2.5 meters/second^2. If the starting speed is 5.0 meters/second, how many seconds will it take the car to reach a final speed of 27.0 meters/second?

(27-5)/2.5 = 8.8

V(final) = V(initial) + accel x time
Vf = Vi + at
Solving for t,
t = (Vf-Vi)/a
t = (27.0m/s-5.0m/s) / 2.5m/s^2 = 8.8 seconds
