A small fish is dropped by a pelican that is rising steadily at 0.52 m/s(b) How far below the pelican is the fish after 2.4 s?

the distance fallen is
.52t - 4.9t^2
.52*2.4 - 4.9*2.4^2 = 26.976m
In those 2.4 seconds, the pelican rose another .52*2.4 = 1.248m
so, the fish is now 28.224 m below the pelican. Don't know whether small fish fall faster than large fish, but oh, well.
