(x^2 - 7xy + 2)-(2x^2 + 3xy -6)
subtract each term with the same exponent, if there was an exponent value without a matching value in the other equation you would leave it alone
*do not forget to subtract each time!
-x^2 - 10xy + 8

x ^ 2 - 7 x y + 2 - ( 2 x ^ 2 + 3 x y - 6 ) =
x ^ 2 - 2 x ^ 2 - 7 x y - 3 x y + 2 - ( - 6 ) =
- x ^ 2 - 10 x y + 2 + 6 =
- x ^ 2 - 10 x y + 8
x ^ 2 - 2 x ^ 2 - 7 x y - 3 x y + 2 - ( - 6 ) =
- x ^ 2 - 10 x y + 2 + 6 =
- x ^ 2 - 10 x y + 8
