Consider an object on a straight-line path undergoing constant acceleration. Can you get the object to change direction while still experiencing constant acceleration?

Yes to both questions.
A dropped object accelerates in a straight line.
An object following a circular path can have constant acceleration magnitude while changing directions.
(The acceleration vector will be changing however, in the latter case.)
