    The intermediate value theorem states: If F(x) is a real-valued continuous function on the interval [a, b], and u is a number between f(a) and f(b), then there is a c value in the interval [a, b] such that f(c) = u.
In your case, a = 3, b = 24, f(a) = 2 and f(b) = 5
