can anyone explain how does the balanced chemical equation show the law of conservation of mass?

The number of all the elements on the left side of the equation are equal to the number of the corresponding elements on the right side of the equation, thus no additional or less atoms are created nor destroyed.
For example, in this carbonic acid reaction where hemoglobin store carbon dioxide in blood:
H2O + CO2 --> H2CO3 --> HCO3 + H
Left has 2H, 1C, and 3O
Right also has 2H, 1C, 3O
