I've tried this sooo many times I have huge marks on my paper and I just can't figure it out:

3a/8-a/12+7/2=7

multiply each term by 24

9a - 2a + 84 = 168
7a = 84
a = 12

I usually try to get rid of any fraction by multiplying each term by the LCD
