What is the change in the gravitational potential energy of a Boeing 767 jet as it soars from the runway up to a cruising altitude of 10.2 km? Assume its mass is a constant 2.04×105 kg.

m g h = 2.04*10^5 * 9.81 * 10.2*10^3

Potential Energy = mgh
where m is mass
g is gravity
h is height (should be in meters)

PE = mgh
PE = (2.04 x 10^5 kg)(9.8m/s^2)(10200m)
PE = 2.04 x 10^10 J
