Hello, I have e problems with dis question
A harmonic wave on a string moves along the x-axis according to:
(x,t) =5.0 (cm) sin[ (2.5m^-1) x - (63s^-1) t ]
At x = 1.0 m when t = 2.2 s the speed of the oscilations on the string is closest to ...
me thought that you can just plug-in the x=1 and t=2.2 to get the displacement, and then use v=d/t.
but it no work
the opinions are,
2.27 m/s
1.67 m/s
and
4.55 m/s

What are "e problems" ?
It is not clear whether the problem is asking for the speed of the waves or the speed of a piece of string at that location and time.
If it is the latter, you need to compute v(t) = dx/dt by differentiation. Dividing x by t will not work.
