                a body is projected at an angle with the horizontal with an initial of 500 m/s. 4 seconds later it hits the ground. find theta and the horizontal range.

sin theta = Vi/500
do the vertical problem first
v = Vi - 9.8 t
let's use the time to top (half the trip)
0 = Vi - 9.8 (2 seconds)
Vi = 19.6 m/s
sin theta = 19.6/500
