Decide if you want ONE high school (colegio means high school ordinarily) or the plural = some high schools ARE more expensive.

Un colegio es más caro que un coche nuevo.

OR

Unos colegios son más caros que un coche nuevo.

Note the subject! It is singular, as is the verb in my first example BUT plural subject with plural verb in the 2nd.
