Sometimes it's easier to rewrite the inequality with the variable (y) on the left side. When you do this make sure you change the direction of the sign. Your work must have been correct to give you 4, but it's all numbers less than.

6.1 + 0.6y < 8.5
0.6y < 2.4
y < 4
