So far I have: (0.385g)(8.31dm3 times kPa)(200K)(1000cm3)/(7.40 kPa)(mol times K)(200 cm3)(1Dm3) which =639870 g/1480 mol which =432.345 and that is not even close to one of the answers. I don't know where I am going wrong.

Couldn't you also have (12x-__)(1x+___) or (__-15)(___+3), etc? Isn't there an easier way then this guess and check process???

Oh...I think I understand now. Does this make sense? Sodium hydroxide will react with the acids in the lake to form water and a salt. Flora and fauna cannot thrive in a salty environment (from what I remember in biology class, osmosis draws out water from their cells). Therefore, adding sodium hydroxide would be harmful to these organisms living in the lake.

Oh, sorry I wasn't clear. I didn't mention that it's supposed to be graphed from y = f(x). Also, we just write out how to obtain the graph, not the exact coordinates. Thanks for your help! I understand the second problem now. Except I'm confused about what you did in the first problem. We haven't learned anything about cotx yet... I inverted the fractions, though and ended up with: (sin x + cos x) / sin x = (1 + tan x) / tanx (I'm just wondering...why did you write (1 + tan x) / x on the left side?) Then simplifies to... cos x = 1 ?? I'm confused... :S

Why would you say that? I understand you use u subsitution u= x^3 and then eventually you get an integral from 0 2 of the function but i dnt understand why the integral from 0 to 2 and the integral from 0 to 8 would be the same?
