That depends on who the person is.
If the person is famous and/or has biographies or autobiographies in print, then you should research in print and non-print (Internet, video, etc.) media.
If the person is someone in your family, then most likely interviews with him/her and perusing family tree charts would be helpful. Be sure to prepare well for such interviews, though. Go in with a well thought out list of questions, even if you end up asking questions not on your list, too.
