Using a telescope, which planets acn be observed from Earth in a crescent moon phase?

Mercury and Venus.
It happens when they are nearly between Earth and the sun, in which case most of the surface we see is in darkness. It cannot happen for the other "outer" planets, since they are never between Earth and the sun.
